<Draft 3 – 8/11/15>
SFX – sounds of a blizzard
VFX - The big screen should show video of heavy snow falling
Music: Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas
<Emma Enters, carrying a large bag. As she sings, she removes four wrapped presents from the bag
and places them on stage>
Emma: <slightly melancholy>
Have yourself a merry little Christmas, let your heart be light,
From now on our troubles will be out of sight
<Noticing audience>
Oh, hello everyone! I didn’t see you there. I was just getting things ready for my holiday party. I just
love this time of year, don’t you? I’m glad you all could be here with me! I’m sorry if I seem a little
sad. It’s just that I was really looking forward to having an amazing party with my best friends
Andrea, Mia, Olivia, and Stephanie, but with the snow coming down so hard outside, it just
doesn’t look like they will be able to make it this year. I guess I’ll be celebrating the holidays without
them.
Through the years
We all will be together If the fates allow
Hang a shining star upon the highest bough and have yourself a merry little Christmas now.
<Andrea enters and sings harmony for the last refrain>
Both:
Yes, have yourself a merry little Christmas now.
(End Song)
Emma:
Wait <to audience> Did you all hear that? You did? <turning> Andrea! I thought you wouldn’t be able
to come!
Andrea:
It takes a lot more than a little snow to make me miss my friend Emma’s big holiday party!
Emma:
I’m so happy you’re here!
Andrea:
Me too! It just wouldn’t be Christmas without all of my friends.
Music: Greatest Time of Year
Emma:
Ther’s a special kind of feeling in the air.
It only happens at this time of year
When everyone is filled with love and cheer
That’s what matters
Both:
Pretty paper boxes tied with bows
Walking in the sun or in the snow
We can feel the excitement
Growing, knowing
Olivia: <appearing from the audience>
You girls didn’t start without me did you?
Emma:
Olivia! You made it! We thought you got stuck in the snow?
Olivia:
I almost was, but I had a little help from some very special friends.
Emma:
From who? Santa and his reindeer?
Olivia:
No, but you’re close! From Mia and her horse Bella!
Mia: <appearing from other side of audience>
We were happy to help! Merry Christmas everyone!
Emma:
Merry Christmas Mia! Come on inside girls.
<Mia and Olivia run around to go to stage>
Emma and Andrea: <singing again>
We can get all cozy by the fire
Turn the music up a little higher
I don’t think that I could ever tire
Of being together
Olivia: <entering on stage>
Decorate the tree
Hang mistletoe and stand by me
Mia: <entering on stage>
It’s a picture-perfect moment captured
All:
Memories that we’ll have after
Olivia:
Wait! Where is Stephanie
Mia:
You’re right. We can’t celebrate without Stephanie!
Olivia:
I hope she’s not stuck in the snow
Mia:
Or at her house
Both:
Or at the mall!
Stephanie: <Entering Upstage>
Did somebody say Mall!
All:
Stephanie!
Stephanie:
You didn’t think I would miss this party did you?
Emma:
We’re all here! Now it really feels like Christmas! Come on girls, let’s get this party started!
All
It’s the greatest time of year
And it’s here, help me celebrate it
With everybody here
Friends so dear, let me simply state it
Joy to the world and everyone
Lift up your hearts and feel the love
It's our favourite way
To spend the holiday
Emma: <then others join in one by one>
It’s the greatest time of year
And it’s here, help me celebrate it
With everybody here. Friends so dear, let me simply state it
All:
Joy to the world, joy to the world, joy to the world
<the girls all take a selfie>
Joy to the world and everyone
Lift up your hearts and feel the love
It's our favourite way
To spend the holiday, yeah
(End Song)
Emma:
I’m so glad you’re all here. This is going to be so much fun!
Stephanie:
Well, it sure wasn’t easy getting here. I’ve never seen so much snow!
Andrea:
Neither have I.
Olivia:
I have. This actually reminds me of when I used to spend Christmas up at the lodge on Clear Springs
Mountain.
Mia:
Well, it couldn’t have snowed this much. Wouldn’t that cause an avalanche or something?
Olivia:
I don’t think it ever snowed this much, but it sure snowed a lot. Oh, it was beautiful up there.
Emma:
Snow may be beautiful, but it sure makes travelling a bit tricky. Weren’t you ever scared you’d be
snowed in?
Olivia:
Nope. Travelling in snow is really easy.
All:
<confused> Huh? What?
Olivia: <laughing>
If you go by sleigh!
Mia: <very excited by the idea>
Of course, a horse drawn sleigh! It’s the only way to travel.
Andrea:
It sounds wonderful Olivia. What was it like?
Olivia:
Well, why don’t I show you. Let’s take a pretend journey up to the old lodge.
<to audience> Would you all like to join us? That’s great. Ok, everybody up on your feet. The first
thing we need to do is get into our sleigh.
<demonstrating getting into sleigh>
So you put in one foot and then the other. Everyone comfortable?
<demonstrates grabbing the reigns>
Great. Now everyone grab onto your reigns just like this.
And on the count of three we’re going to say, “Giddy up, let’s go!”
Ready…1, 2, 3. Giddy up, let’s go!
<She demonstrates bouncing like in a moving sleigh>
Great job! Now pretend your sleigh is moving.
Very good! Now to get to the lodge we go across the snow.
<leans hard to the left>
We make a left at the lake.
<Waves at imaginary ice skaters>
Wave to the skaters.
<Leans hard to the right>
Watch out for that snowman!
<Slowly leans back as if climbing a huge hill>
Up to the ridge.
<Quickly leans forward as the sleigh stops>
And say “Whoooaaa”
See, that’s all there is to it. Great job everyone! Let’s get this sleigh ride started!
Music: Sleigh Bells
Olivia:
Just hear those sleigh bells jingling, Ring-ting-tingling too,
Girls: Ring a ling a tinga ding dong ding
Come on, it's lovely weather for a sleigh ride together with you,
Girls: Ring a ling a tinga ding dong ding
Outside the snow is falling
And friends are calling, "YOO HOO !",
Girls: Ring a ling a tinga ding dong ding
Come on, it's lovely weather
For a sleigh ride together with you.
Girls: Ring a ling a tinga ding dong ding.
Ring a ling a tinga ding dong ding.
Oooooooo
Our cheeks are nice and rosy, And comfy cozy are we,
Girls: Ring a ling a tinga ding dong ding
We're snuggled up together, like two birds of a feather would be,
Girls: Ring a ling a tinga ding dong ding
Let's take that road before us and sing a chorus or two,
Girls: Ring a ling a tinga ding dong ding
Come on, it's lovely weather for a sleigh ride together with you.
Girls: Ring a ling a tinga ding dong ding.
Ring a ling a tinga ding dong ding.
Oooooooo
Olivia: <To Audience>
All right, it’s time for that sleigh ride! Everybody on your feet! Ready?
<demonstrating getting into sleigh>
Put in one foot and then the other.
<demonstrates grabbing the reigns>
“Giddy up, let’s go!”
<She demonstrates bouncing like in a moving sleigh>
Across the snow.
<leans hard to the left>
We make a left at the lake.
<Waves at imaginary ice skaters>
Wave to the skaters.
<Leans hard to the right>
Watch out for that snowman!
<Slowly leans back as if climbing a huge hill>
Up to the ridge.
<Quickly leans forward as the sleigh stops>
And “Whoooaaa”
Great job everyone! That was so much fun.
Our cheeks are nice and rosy, And comfy cozy are we,
Girls: Ring a ling a tinga ding dong ding
We're snuggled up together, like two birds of a feather would be,

Ring a ling a tinga ding dong ding.
Ring a ling a tinga ding dong ding.
(End Song)
Andrea:
You’re right Olivia, a sleigh ride is the only way to travel.
Stephanie:
Yes, but if it was up to me, I don’t think I would chose a horse to pull the sleigh.
Mia: <shocked>
You wouldn’t use a horse? Why wouldn’t you use a horse? I love horses!
Stephanie:
Don’t worry Mia, I love horses too. I’m just saying, that since this is a very particular time of year, if I
had a sleigh and wanted to go for a ride, like maybe to deliver some presents to good little boys and
girls everywhere, there might be a different animal that’s right for the job.
Mia:
Someone else? So not a horse?
Emma:
Who then? A team of dogs?
Olivia:
An elephant.
Andrea:
Or a camel.
Emma: <A bit too over excited>
Or a unicorn!
<The other girls look at Emma sceptically, surprised by her passionately shouting out a mythical
creature>
Emma:
What? I like unicorns.
Stephanie: <To Audience>
How about all of you? Do you know what animal should pull the sleigh?
<gets answers from kids>
Stephanie:
You’re right! A reindeer. But not just any reindeer.
Music: Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer
Stephanie and All:
Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer Had a very shiny nose
And if you ever saw it
You would even say it glows All of the other reindeer
Used to laugh and call him names They never let poor Rudolph
Join in any reindeer games
Then one foggy Christmas Eve, Santa came to say,
Rudolph with your nose so bright, Won't you guide my sleigh tonight
Then how all the reindeer loved him, As they shouted out with glee, Rudolph the red-nose Reindeer
You'll go down in history
Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer Had a very shiny nose
And if you ever saw it,
You would even say it glows, And all of the other reindeer
Used to laugh and call him names, They never let poor Rudolph
Join in any reindeer games,
Then one foggy Christmas Eve, Santa came to say,
Rudolph with your nose so bright, Wont you guide my sleigh tonight
Then how all the reindeer loved him, As they shouted out with glee, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer,
You'll go down in history
(End Song)
Emma:
That was so much fun. A sleigh pulled by Rudolph? That would be the best sleigh ride ever. I would
love if we could all do that together.
Mia:
But Emma, you’re forgetting to invite someone.
Emma:
I am? Who? I didn’t think to invite anyone else.
Mia:
That might prove to be a problem when it comes time to open presents this year.
Emma:
What do you mean? Who did I forget to invite?
Andrea:
And what does that have to do with presents?
Mia:
Well the person I’m thinking of has some big black boots, a fluffy red suit, and a big white beard!
All:
Santa Clause!
Mia:
Of course! Who else. And don’t forget, he’s going to be here very soon.
Music: Santa Clause is Comin’ to Town
Mia and Girls:
You better watch out You better not cry You better not pout I'm telling you why
Santa claus is comin' to town
Santa claus is comin' to town
Santa claus is comin' to town
He's making a list He's checking it twice He's gonna find out Who's naughty or nice
Santa claus is comin' to town
Santa claus is comin' to town
Santa claus is comin' to town
He sees you when you're sleeping He knows when you're awake
He knows if you've been bad or good So be good for goodness sake
So you better watch out You better not cry
You better not pout I'm telling you why
Santa claus is comin' to town
Santa claus is comin' to town
Santa claus is comin' to town
With little tin horns, And little toy drums.
Rooty-toot-toots, And rummy tum tums.
And curly-haired dolls, That toddle and coo,
Elephants, boats, And kiddie cars too.
Santa claus is comin' to town
Santa claus is comin' to town
Santa claus is comin' to town
Santa claus is comin' to town
(End Song)
Stephanie:
Girls, that was so much fun. Singing with you is exactly why I Iove this season.
Mia:
Me too. And all the beautiful lights and decorations.
Olvia:
And ice skating.
Stephanie:
And hot chocolate.
Emma:
And ginger bread.
Mia:
Candy Canes!
Stephanie:
Let’s not forget about the presents.
Emma:
What about you Andrea? What’s your favourite part about the season?
Andrea:
What’s my favourite part of the season? It’s so hard to decide. Let’s see…
Music: What Christmas Means To Me
Andrea and Girls:
Oh yeah...
Candles burnin' low, Lots of mistletoe.
Lots of snow and ice, Everywhere we go.
Choirs singin' carols, Right outside my door.
All these things and more (All these things and more)
That's what Christmas means to me my friends (That's what Christmas means to me my friends)
I see your smilin' face, Like I never seen before
Even though I love ya madly It seems I love you more
And little cards you give me will touch my heart for sure
All these things and more, darling (All these things and more) Whoa!
That's what Christmas means to me my friends (That's what Christmas means to me my friends)
That's what Christmas means to me my friends
Let's deck the halls with holly Sing sweet silent night
Fill the tree with tinsel, yeah And pretty, pretty lights
Go to sleep and wake up Just before daylight
All these things and more, yeah (All these things and more) Whoa!
That's what Christmas means to me my friends (That's what Christmas means to me my friends)
(End Song)
Andrea:
I love all of that stuff. But I have to say, my favourite part of the holiday is being with my best friends.
Emma:
You’re right Andrea. Nothing makes me happier than spending Christmas with all of you. <excited>
Oh! Which reminds me. I have presents for all of you!
<Emma runs to get presents from under the tree and hand them out to each girl in turn>
Emma:
Mia. Stephanie. Andrea. And Olivia. I made something special for each of you.
<Each girl opens her present to reveal a handmade ornament>
Stephanie:
Emma, this is perfect. Look, mine is pink and has cupcakes on it!
Mia:
Mine has the cutest little penguins.
Olivia:
Awww, little kittens, just like mine.
Andrea:
And mine has musical notes! Emma, these are amazing.
Emma:
It was my pleasure. I can’t wait to see them hung on the tree. It’ll be perfect.
<Girls give each other a knowing look, then Olivia and Andrea sneak off to grab another present>
Stephanie: <Distracting Emma>
I don’t know about perfect. These ornaments are great, but I don’t think their going to be enough.
Emma:
What? You don’t like them!
Mia:
No Emma, we love them! But for your tree to be perfect, you might be missing something.
Emma:
I am? What am I missing?
Andrea: <Returning with gift>
Well you see… We got you a special present too.
Olivia:
We know how much you love Christmas.
Mia:
So we all thought you might enjoy this!
<Emma opens the gift to reveal a sparkly heart shaped tree topper>
Emma:
Oh, girls! It’s amazing! Thank you all so much.
Olivia:
Merry Christmas Emma.
All: <group hug>
Merry Christmas.
Emma:
So would all of you like to help me decorate?
All: <holding up their ornaments>
Of course!
Music: Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree
Emma: <To Audience>
How about all of you? Would you like to help us celebrate? Then get up on your feet and dance
along with us. Here we go!
All Girls:
Rockin' around the Christmas tree have a happy holiday
Everyone dancing merrily, in the new old-fashioned way
Rockin' around the Christmas tree, Let the Christmas spirit ring
Later we'll have some pumpkin pie and we'll do some carolling
You will get a sentimental feeling When you hear
Voices singing let's be jolly
Deck the halls with boughs of holly
Rockin' around the Christmas tree Have a happy holiday
Everyone dancing merrily In the new old fashioned way
Emma:
<to audience> Thank you so much for coming to my party everyone! Did you all have a good time?
<get response from audience> I’m so glad! We hope you all have a wonderful holiday season and
enjoy the rest of your day here in Heartlake City!
Music: Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree Playoff
